Textile Tuesday: Zira Seaside

The star of this week's Textile Tuesday feature is Zira Seaside, a versatile small scale block print fabric inspired by the floral motif in the Lacefield logo.  Zira was carved on a linoleum block and hand stamped to create the pattern repeat, giving it a very organic look. The simple, ethnic vibe of Zira works with a wide range of decor styles and creates an interesting mix with geometric, ikat and even floral patterns.

Charlotte's  eclectic Signature Style mood board
Zira has received quite a bit of blogger love in the past week!  Charlotte, from Ciburbanity, featured Zira Seaside today in her Signature Style Series mood board. Charlotte is one of 22 bloggers participating in this week's Signature Style Series organized by Carrie from Making Lemonade. Each day, these uber creative bloggers share an inside look at their signature style.  On Friday, Carrie will wrap up the week with an amazing GIVEAWAY you won't want to miss! Hint: Lacefield pillows might be involved!

Textile Tuesday: Document Fossil

Document Fossil is one of the most recognizable textile patterns in the Lacefield line, partially due to its starring roll on Victoria Grayson's wingchair in the ABC hit series, Revenge.  Since its debut in the textile line seven years ago, the versatile Lacefield Document pattern has been used on upholstered furniture of all silhouettes and styles, drapery panels, shower curtains, lampshades, table linens, holiday decor and more.  The intriguing script design was inspired by a collection of vintage French documents in the Lacefield design archives.  Printed on our popular heavy basket base cloth, a durable blend of Rayon and cotton, Document Fossil proves to be pretty, feminine and functional.

Textile Tuesday: Vintage Furniture Transformations

Lacefield customers often comment on the unique upholstery pieces we feature in our catalogs and on our website.  Even junky old thrift store furniture can become eye candy with a simple upholstery job in one of our signature print textiles. Throughout the year we scour antique markets, Craigslist, Goodwill stores and local thrift shops for inexpensive, distinctive furniture for Lacefield photo shoots.  Here are some of our favorite finds in all their thrift store glory, alongside their beautiful transformations:

We use a wonderful local upholstery shop for the pieces shown in our photo shoots, but after an amazing weekend of networking with DIY bloggers at Haven Conference, I feel inspired to learn how to upholster some smaller pieces myself.  There is a great new upholstery guide book on the market, written by professional upholsterer, Amanda Brown. The extremely talented and resourceful Brown runs Spruce, a furniture redesign firm in Austin, Texas.  Would you be brave enough to take on an upholstery DIY project?

Textile Tuesday: Decorating with Suzanis

Suzani is a type of embroidered, decorative tribal textile made in Uzbekistan, Kasakhstan and other Central Asian countries.  Traditionally made by brides to be gifted to the groom on their wedding day, each Suzani tells a unique story.  Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers, leaves, vines and fruits and occasionally fish and birds. These colorful, intricately designed textiles are a great way to add visual interest to a home.
