Lake House Dreaming

When it comes to summer vacations, it seems that most folks are either lake people or beach people.  I always thought of myself as the latter... until a relaxing weekend on the lake with a group of friends from college made me think otherwise.  Now I am dreaming of one day owning a lake house close enough to Atlanta to spend summer weekends relaxing and enjoying nature with family and friends.  Unfortunately, I tend to dream big, as in this gorgeous Bill Ingram designed home on Lake Martin in Alabama.  It is pure lake house perfection!
What about you, are you a "lake person" or a "beach person"?

Textile Tuesday: Decorating with Suzanis

Suzani is a type of embroidered, decorative tribal textile made in Uzbekistan, Kasakhstan and other Central Asian countries.  Traditionally made by brides to be gifted to the groom on their wedding day, each Suzani tells a unique story.  Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers, leaves, vines and fruits and occasionally fish and birds. These colorful, intricately designed textiles are a great way to add visual interest to a home.

Retailer Spotlight: Tracery

Now that summer is upon us, it is the perfect time to do a feature on Tracery, a design studio and shop located in the popular coastal destination of Rosemary Beach.  Situated in northwest Florida between Panama City and Destin, Rosemary Beach is a 100 acre planned community that looks and feels like heaven on earth.

Tracery owner Paige Schnell was lucky enough to relocate to scenic 30A in 2004 after six years of designing interiors for corporate, legal and hospitality clients of a prestigious Atlanta firm. Since opening her design studio and shop in 2004, Paige and fellow designer, Anna Kay Porch, have created beautiful homes along the Gulf Coast and throughout the southeast.  Tracery was tapped by Southern Living to design their 2009 Idea House in Cinnamon Shore, Texas as well as their 2012 Idea House in Senoia, Georgia.  Known for gracious interiors that blend European sensibilities with Southern charm, Tracery's diverse portfolio of work has been featured in leading national magazines, including Veranda, Southern Living, Traditional Home, Food and Wine, Better Homes & Gardens, and House Beautiful, as well as the coffee table book, 30A Style.

The Tracery retail shop sells a wide range of furnishings and accessories for the home - from upholstered furniture, fabrics, pillows, lighting, art, candles, design books and more.  It is filled with so many beautiful things, you may be tempted to pack a bag and move in!
